Shakes celebrate 50th anniversary

The children of John and Judy Shake are hosting an open house from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Lyons Community Center on Highway 67 in Lyons to help celebrate their parents’ 50th wedding anniversary.

Judy Dowden and John Shake were united in marriage on June 12, 1959, at the Methodist Church in Switz City by Rev. James Boyle. Jonas Winkleplek and Dorothy Young were their attendants. The couple lived in Odon for their first 25 years of married life before moving to Switz City and then to Linton.

They are the parents of five children: Kevin Shake, deceased; Mark (Diane) Shake of Montgomery; Brent (Rita) Shake of Loogootee; Dawn (David) Price of Lyons and Jarod (Kelly) Shake of Switz City. They have 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family requests no gifts. They asks that family and friends come with memories and pictures to be shared and enjoyed by everyone.
