LOOGOOTEE — The Criminal Investigations Division from the Jasper Post is investigating a string of fires that occurred Thursday south of Loogootee in Martin County. At about 5:25 p.m. Martin County Dispatch received the first call of a fire located at 2064 Brooks Ridge Road. At this scene three structures were set ablaze. One structure was an older mobile home which was a total loss, the second was a shed or small building which was a total loss and the third was an older camper which sustained a lot of damage. Then at about 6:20 p.m. the Martin County Dispatch received a second call of a fire on Haw Creek Road approximately 1/2 mile south of Brooks Ridge Road. At this scene another mobile home was set ablaze and was a total loss. “We are currently looking for the individual or individuals that are responsible for setting these fires,” said Master Trooper Detective David Henderson. “Fortunately no one was hurt.” Detective Henderson is asking that anyone that has information into the fires to call the Jasper Post at 1-800-742-7475 or 812-482-1441. Assisting agencies were the Martin County Sheriff’s Department, Loogootee, Haysville and Southeast Daviess County Fire Departments and Martin County Civil Defense.
