Bank robber caught in Worthington

WASHINGTON — Less than 24 hours after he allegedly robbed a bank, Dustin Green, 23, Vincennes, was arrested by city police Monday night.

According to a press release from the department, Green was caught in Worthington by Worthington police who was on the lookout for a white 2000 Pontiac Grand Am that Green allegedly stole.

At approximately 9 a.m. Monday, Green allegedly went into the Crane Federal Credit Union, 2102 State St., and presented a note to a teller demanding money. He then left with an undisclosed amount of cash and ran to the neighboring Sav-A-Lot where he disappeared, the release said.

In the process, Green lost a pair of flip-flops at the bank where they were collected. No one was harmed in the robbery.

After the robbery, an area-wide manhunt was launched to find Green, with departments in Pike, Knox, Greene and Martin notified and looking for what was believed to be at first a white SUV. It was later changed to the white Pontiac Grand Am.

As a precaution in Pike County, schools were on a partial lockdown.

The Indiana State Police and the FBI also assisted in the intial investigation.

Greene was taken to the Daviess County Security Center where he was officially charged with robbery. He is being held on $7,500 bond.
