S. Ind. town marshal charged with theft, forgery

HAUBSTADT, Ind. (AP) — A southern Indiana town marshal has been charged with telling part-time officers to submit falsified time sheets and keeping the money.

State troopers arrested Haubstadt Town Marshal Micah Rulli on felony charges of official misconduct, theft and forgery early Friday.

Gibson County court records say Rulli told the two officers to add hours to their time sheets if they didn’t work their entire allotted time. Authorities say Rulli told the officers to give the extra money to him so he could buy equipment if needed.

State police said the fraudulent pay totaled about $350. Rulli also is accused of taking money seized during an arrest last year.

Rulli was released on bond. He couldn’t immediately be located for comment since no home telephone number was listed in his name.
