VINCENNES — Beginning today the Indiana State Police will be escorting a very large and heavy load from Mt. Vernon. This load is much like the large load that was moved on May 22 and 23. The destination of the load is Edwardsport, to the new Duke Energy Plant that is under construction. As I have already said this load is very large and heavy therefore the Indiana State Police will be escorting and controlling the traffic along the route. The route is as follows: --It will begin in Mt. Vernon and travel west on SR 62 to SR 69. --North on SR 69 to SR 66. --East on SR 66 to SR 165 in Wadesville. --North on SR 165 through Poseyville to Owensville. --In Owensville the load will travel onto SR 168 to Fort Branch. --In Fort Branch we will travel North on US 41 to Vincennes. --At Vincennes we will take city streets to SR 61. --SR 61 through Verne to SR 241 at Monroe City. --SR 241 to US 50. --US 50 West to Robinson Rd. --Robinson Rd. to SR 550. --SR 550 to SR 67. --SR 67 to SR 358 to the job site. Throughout the route there will be several locations that the load will be required to slow down to a very slow speed and sometimes to walking pace to cross over bridges. During the slowdowns the traffic in the area will be stopped to allow for safe movement of the load. Motorists along this route need to use extra caution as traffic maybe stopped in unusual areas especially on US 41 near around the Princeton area and the Patoka and White River bridges. Since loads of this size must travel at a reduced speed and must slow down to a walking pace it is most likely that this movement will take at least two days to complete.
