Washington asked to conserve water

WASHINGTON — Washington residents are asked to conserve water immediately due to heat and continuing drought.

Washington mayor Joe Wellman signed a local emergency declaration Friday morning. In it, residents are asked not to water their lawns, wash their cars, or use a pressure washer, fill swimming pools or other unnecessary water-using activities.

Inside the house, customers are asked to keep showers to five minutes, turn water off while shaving and brushing teeth, wash only full loads of laundry or dishes and report any leaks.
