Partial settlement in Bennington Levee suit reached

WASHINGTON — A partial settlement has been reached in the Bennington Levee suit.

At a joint meeting of the Daviess County Commissioners and Council Tuesday, both boards voted to accept a partial settlement of $445,000 to repair the north breach of the March 2011 Bennington Levee.

The settlement does not include the larger and more expensive breach on the south side of the levee. Estimates range for repairs there up to $2.5 million.

More on this story including comment will be on washtimesherald.com later and in Wednesday's Times Herald.
