BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) — The massive weekend snowstorm that buried the Washington area with up to three feet of snow has delayed Indiana Democratic Congressman Baron Hill’s plans to file paperwork seeking election to a sixth term.
Hill spokeswoman Katie Moreau says the congressman’s scheduled Monday flight from the nation’s capital to Indianapolis was among those canceled by the weekend storm. She says Hill could end up filing by mail to seek re-election to southern Indiana’s 9th congressional district.
Former Republican Rep. Mike Sodrel is running again for that seat. He and Hill have faced each other in each congressional election since 2002. Sodrel won in 2004, but Hill regained the seat two years later and won re-election in 2008.
