Blog entry No. 2

Well, I returned from Muncie with all the appendages that I left with, so I assume that alone constitutes a successful Saturday.

The truth is Barr-Reeve played well, but it just wasn’t enough. I have a feeling someone is going to take Marquette down a peg or two sometime, but we will have to wait another year to find out who.

After the match B-R coach Amber DeCoursey was disappointed, but as always, enormously professional. In fact B-R fans, students, staff and administrators did their community proud. The old saying is “act like you’ve been there before” — they have and they did. There were a few other schools up there who could have learned from them.

The high point of Saturday was the LaBamba burrito I had on my way out of Muncie. I hadn’t had a LaBamba since I left the Lafayette area about a decade ago. They are by far the best. I had my first one in West Lafayette when they opened in 1990. It was right after guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughn died and they took out an ad in the Purdue Exponent that said, “Have a burrito as big as your head, Stevie Ray would have wanted it that way.” I believe they were right.

Congrats to the Cougar and Hatchets on great football seasons. I couldn’t get wifi to work at the hotel, so I relied on texts from Nate Smith, Mike and my wife from both games on Friday night. Does anyone want to trade me a right-handed Scotty Cameron putter (Newport) for a left-handed one? let me know.
