County taking bids for septic system


LEGAL NOTICE

The Daviess County Commissioners, hereby referred as the Owner(s), will receive sealed bids until 3 p.m. Friday, September 19, 2008, at the Auditor’s office located in the Daviess County Courthouse, Washington, Indiana.

On-Site Septic Disposal for the Daviess County Industrial Park/County Home

Washington, Indiana

Proposals may be forwarded by registered mail, addressed to the OSSD for the Daviess County Industrial Park/-County Home, Auditor’s Office, Daviess County Courthouse, Washington, Indiana 47501, or may be delivered in person before 3:00 p.m. September 19, 2008. It is expected the bids will be opened on September 22, 2008 at the regularly scheduled Daviess County Commissioner’s meeting in the Daviess County Court-house.

Work to consist of pumping and abandoning in place three (3) septic tanks and one (1) distribution box; installing five (5) septic tanks; installing one (1) 45’x90’ wetland cell with accessory piping; one (1) dosing tank with controls and four (4) pumps; two (2) sand mounds, each with 124’x36’ basal sand area (2) distribution networks per mound, distribution laterals, forced mains, 890’ of perimeter drain; underground electrical power consisting of 300’ of #6 three (3) conductor aluminum URD cable.

Minimum qualifications for the contractor:

a) Certified Daviess County Septic Installer

b) Have completed a minimum of three commercial sand mound systems

All materials furnished and labor performed incident to and required for the proper and satisfactory execution of the contract shall be furnished and performed in accordance with the requirements of the drawings, and any addenda thereto, prepared by Schroeder & Associates P.C. Said drawings are on file in the office as follows:

Each proposal must be enclosed in a sealed envelope bearing the title of the project and the name and address of the Bidder.

All sealed bids shall include a non-collusion affidavit, a bid bond, a certified check or money order payable to Daviess County representing 5% of the total amount of the highest proposal, which check or bond will be held by the Owner(s) as evidence that the bidder will, if awarded the contract, enter into the same with the Owner(s) upon notification to him to do so within the ten (10) days of said notification.

Failure to execute a contract and to furnish a Performance and Payment Bond as hereinafter set out will be a cause for forfeiture to the Owner(s) of the amount of money represented by the certified check or Bidder’s Bond, not as for penalty but as for liquidated damages.

Approved Performance and Payment Bonds, guaranteeing faithful and proper performance of the work and materials, to be executed by an acceptable Surety Company, will be required of each Contractor at the time he executes his contract. The Bond will be in the amount of 100% of the Contract Price and must be in full force and effect for a period of 12 months from the date of acceptance of and final payment of the work.

Proposals shall be properly and completely executed on proposal forms included in the Specifications. Proposals shall include Indiana State Board of Accounts Form 96 provided and executed by the bidder, all as required by Statute.

No proposal shall be withdrawn after the opening of the bids without the consent of the Owner(s) for a period of sixty (60) days after the scheduled time of receiving same.

The Owner(s) reserves the right to reject any proposals, or to accept any proposal or proposals, or to make such combination of proposals as may seem desirable, and to waive any and all informalities in the bidding.

Copies of Plans and Bid Documents may be obtained from the Daviess County Auditor’s Office at the Daviess County Courthouse, Washington, Indiana 47501. Each prime contractor for the work will be entitled to one (1) complete set of drawings and specifications upon payment of a deposit of $25. Any unsuccessful bidder, upon returning such set promptly and in good condition will be refunded his deposit. Any non-bidder upon returning such set shall also be refunded $25.
