Daviess County Museum study to be made public


PUBLIC NOTICE

On or about August 3, 2009, the Daviess County Commissioners will make available for review a draft feasibility study for historic preservation of the County Museum Building Report. In 2008, the County on behalf of the Daviess County Historical Society received federal planning grant funds from the Small Cities Community Devel-opment Block Grant (CDBG) program, which is funded by Title I of the Federal Housing and Com-munity Development Act of 1974, as amended. The planning grant funds are being used to conduct a feasibility planning study of the County Museum in regard to historic preser-vation. The total amount of CDBG funds awarded was $40,000.00. The total amount of CDBG assistance designated to benefit low and moderate income persons is $18,280.00. The County also proposed to expend an estimated $4,444.00 (10%) in non-CDBG funds on this project. These non-CDBG funds were derived from the following sources: Daviess County Historical Society funds.

The Daviess County Commissioners will hold a public hearing on August 10, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. (EST) at the Commission-ers’ Meeting at the Courthouse located at 200 E. Walnut Street, Washin-gton, Indiana 47501 to provide interested parties an opportunity to express their comments on the draft feasibility study report and community development and housing needs and activities. Persons with disabilities or non-English speaking persons who wish to attend the public hearing and need assistance should contact the Southern Indiana Develop-ment Commission, P.O. Box 442, Loogootee, IN 47553, (812) 295-3707 not later than August 7, 2009. Every effort will be made to make reasonable accommodations for these persons.

Information related to this project will be available for review prior to the public hearing as of August 3, 2009 at the Auditor’s Office located at 200 E. Walnut Street, Washington, Indiana 47501 Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or from the Southern Indiana Development Commission Office located at 401 JFK Avenue, Loogootee, IN 47553 Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. Interested citizens are invited to provide comments regarding these issues either at the public hearing or by prior written statement. Written comments should be submitted to Tony Wichman, President, Daviess County Commissioners, 200 E. Walnut Street, Washing-ton, IN 47501 no later than August 7, 2009 in order to ensure placement of such comments in the official record of the public hearing proceedings. A plan to minimize displacement and provide assistance to those displaced has been prepared by the County and is available to the public. This project will result in no displacement of any persons or businesses.
