Notice of public comment period for El Paso E & P Company

NOTICE OF 30-DAY PERIOD FOR PUBLIC COMMENT

Preliminary Findings Regarding a New Source Review and Minor Source Operating Permit (MSOP) for El Paso E & P Company, L.P. - Peterson CP in Daviess County

Permit No.

M027-28703-00051

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) has received an application from El Paso E & P Company, L.P. - Peterson CP Facility located at 1.3 miles Southwest of Plainville off of CR 900 N., Plainville, Indiana 47568 for a new source review and MSOP. If approved by IDEM's Office of Air Quality (OAQ), this proposed permit would allow El Paso E & P Company, L.P. - Peterson CP to construct and operate a compressor engine at an existing gas line compressor station. In addition, this proposed permit would allow El Paso E & P Company, L.P. - Peterson CP to transition from a Federally Enforceable State Operating Permit (FESOP) to a Minor Source Operating Permit (MSOP) because they are removing two existing compressor engines and the resulting PTE of the source will be less than the TV and/or PSD major threshold levels.

The applicant intends to construct and operate new equipment that will emit air pollutants; therefore the permit contains new or different permit conditions. In addition, some conditions from previously issued permits/approvals have been corrected, changed or removed. The potential to emit criteria pollutants and hazardous air pollutants will continue to be less than the TV and/or PSD major threshold levels, respectively. IDEM has reviewed this application, and has developed preliminary findings, consisting of a draft permit and several supporting documents, that would allow the applicant to make this change.

A copy of the permit application and IDEM’s preliminary findings are available at:
