Dailey and Vincent, who in 2008 took home seven awards, including Entertainer of the Year, at the International Bluegrass Music Awards Show in Nashville, bring their turbo-powered blend of bluegrass, country and gospel music to Simon J. Graber Community Building, CR 900E, south of Odon, at 7 p.m. Friday.
Tickets are $10 for adults 16 and over, $5 for teenagers 13-15, and children 12 and under will be admitted free. All tickets will be sold at the door.
The concert will benefit the Simon J. Graber Building, which is a non--profit organization, providing a community gathering place for large events.
Dailey and Vincent is the pairing of well-known bluegrass performers Jamie Dailey, former lead singer and guitarist for Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver; and Darrin Vincent, who most recently was guitar and mandolin player and harmony vocalist with Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder.
The New York Times recently called them “the most celebrated new bluegrass act of the last few years.”
Dailey and Vincent was released on Jan. 29, 2008, and debuted at No. 2 on Billboard’s Top Bluegrass Albums chart, where it reached No. 1 in June 2008 and was in the top 10 for 40 weeks.
The album was No. 9 on Billboard’s Year-End Top Bluegrass Albums chart, and Dailey and Vincent were No. 7 on Billboard’s year-end Top Bluegrass Artists chart.
Dailey and Vincent was also No. 1 for three months — June, July and August — on the Bluegrass Unlimited National Bluegrass Survey album chart, yielded the No. 1 singles “By the Mark,” “Sweet Carrie” and “More Than a Name on a Wall,” and was included on several year-end “best of 2008” album listings.
Dailey and Vincent made their Grand Ole Opry debut on Dec. 29, 2007, and have returned for several guest appearances.
Jamie Dailey (guitar, bass, lead and harmony vocals) was hired by Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver in 1998 as lead, baritone and tenor singer and bass player.
Jamie has recorded with Dolly Parton and Rhonda Vincent, appeared on five Gaither Homecoming DVDs, and was a guest on Ricky Skaggs’ Grammy-winning Brand New Strings album.
Darrin Vincent (mandolin, bass, guitar, lead and harmony vocals) started singing at age 3 and playing music at age 6 as part of his family band, The Sally Mountain Show, along with sister Rhonda Vincent.
As a member of Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder for the past 10 years, Darrin has won five Grammy Awards and eight IBMA Awards for Instrumental Group of the Year. He also performed on Grammy-winning albums by Dolly Parton and Jimmy Sturr. He has performed and recorded with a multitude of other artists including Norah Jones, Emmylou Harris, Earl Scruggs, Bruce Hornsby, Vince Gill, John Hartford and Keith Urban.
Vincent earned three Grammy nominations for co-producing Rhonda Vincent’s One Step Ahead, Ragin’ Live and All American Bluegrass Girl.
Completing Dailey and Vincent’s lineup are Jeff Parker on mandolin; Joe Dean on banjo, guitar and mandolin; and Adam Haynes on fiddle.
