WASHINGTON — Polls across Daviess County have been busy this morning. Daviess County Clerk Sherri Healy reported no problems throughout the county, as of 10:30 a.m. She said the phones have been ringing in the Voter Registration Office today and over the last several days, with voters wanting to know if they are registered, and where their specific polling locations are located.
In Montgomery, at the Town Hall this morning, voters were lined up 20 deep just around 8 a.m. this morning. Poll workers at the Washington Carnegie Library said they had a steady stream of voters in Washington Precincts 8 and 9 since opening this morning at 6.
Daviess County Voter Registration Deputy Carolyn Newton said her office anticipates a fairly large voter turnout for today’s general election.
Although she said there’s no way of knowing for sure, early voting has been high and could possibly indicate more interest in this year’s election. She said 10 percent of registered voters had placed their votes as of late last week.
Newton said there will be no changes at the polls today, and she reminds voters to remember to take identification with them when they vote. A valid Indiana driver’s license or ID card is required.
