AVON —
R.J. Reynolds, CEO of area economic development group Radius Indiana, died unexpectedly Friday. He was 59.
Reynolds, of Coatesville, was named President and CEO for the economic development group in 2010. Daviess County is a member of Radius Indiana.
“We regarded him as both colleague and friend, and his high-energy commitment to the people of south central Indiana will be missed by all,” Radius board chairman Ken Sendelweck said in a statement.
Radius Indiana is an eight county group consisting of Greene, Daviess, Martin, Lawrence, Dubois, Orange, Crawford and Washington counties. It partners with the WestGate @ Crane Tech Park and other opportunities to bring business and industry to the area.
Before taking the position at Radius, Reynolds was an executive with Toyota for 25 years before retiring. He also worked for Cummins Engine. He served on numerous boards including the Evansville Chamber of Commerce, a trustee of Vincennes University and a executive committee member of the I-69 Innovation Corridor.
A 1971 Bedford High School graduate, he earned degrees from Indiana University and the Wharton School of Business. He was an Air Force veteran, serving in Vietnam. He leaves behind a wife and two sons.
Funeral services are set for today in Avon.

Farmers feeling crunch of wet planting season
Area farmers are feeling the crunch to get crops into the ground as soon as possible. Wet conditions have halted many of the planting days in the last week. Just five days were suitable for planting as the soil remains too wet in much of the southern portion of the state.

Seh Reh, like many who has come to Washington as a Burmese refugee, found life in his new home daunting. The language was so intimidating that he dropped out of high school in 2010.

North Daviess still facing budget cuts
