In an effort to raise funds for their class trip, Barr-Reeve’s seniors are sponsoring a home tour in the Montgomery area. It is set for Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Participants will have a double treat whenever they visit the Shad and Jamie Truelove home on Sportsman Road in Montgomery. Not only will they have the opportunity to visit the newest home on the tour, but they will also be able to walk through the Truelove guest home situated at the end of the driveway.

The guest home behind the main house, currently the rental home of Matt and Alison Hart, was built by the Trueloves a few years ago as an interim home.

Other homes on the tour are George and Liz Nolan’s, Jim and Jamie Miller’s, John and Maria Knepp’s and Chris and Karen Hoover’s.

Truelove home

Stone accents the home’s brick exterior along with stone columns on the front entrance. The front entryway also has a barrel ceiling that extends into the interior foyer. Stepping into the home, tour guests will look through the living room to the two-acre lake in the backyard. Large patio doors flanked by glass panels open to the covered patio with a stamped concrete floor. The living room has a white see-through fireplace that connects with the kitchen on the opposite wall. The white fireplace and cabinetry set against the cabin-red walls brighten the area and add a wow factor. A turn to the right from the foyer offers the view of the dining room, framed by textured stone columns with Venetian plaster walls in muted shades of tan and brown. The eye will be immediately drawn to the room’s red tray ceiling with its brushed nickel chandelier, one of the three trays in the home; the other two are in the kitchen and the master bedroom.

Walking on the Brazilian cherry hardwood floors to the kitchen, one is greeted by the massive cherry cabinets with granite countertops. The kitchen fireplace, also made of cherry, helps create a cozy sitting area.

Walking toward the opposite end of the house to the bedroom area, visitors will appreciate the wood and ironwork on the open stairway leading to the basement. The hallway gallery wall displays a collage of family pictures, with special focus on the couple’s 5-year-old daughter Ava and 3-year-old son Jake.

Jake’s bedroom is unique with its blue, basketball orange, and green walls. Ava’s room is any little girl’s dream with its bold pink walls and white painted circular accents. Adjoining Ava’s room is a Jack and Jill bathroom shared by both her and Jake, with each child having a private vanity area.

The master bedroom, with its smoky blue walls and brown tones, opens to the master bath. His and her walk-in closets provide ample storage space, especially with a wall of shoe cubicles.

One of Jamie’s most treasured pieces of furniture in the home is the curio cabinet in this room. The cabinet was made by her father Jim Stoll, and displayed inside is the miniature Christmas village that originally belonged to Shad’s mother Darla. Grandpa Jim, a woodwork craftsman, also made several toys and keepsakes for the children that can be seen in the bonus room, including a doll armoire, baby doll bunk beds, a marble game, a basketball goal, and a rocking horse.

The basement of the home is yet unfinished, but Shad is already using his archery range in that lower level.

A walk through the back yard will reveal a large playground-activity area with shredded tires ready to cushion any falls. The home also has state of the art security, with cameras recording all outdoor activity.

Hart home

The guest home behind the main house, currently the rental home of the Harts, was built by Shad and Jamie a few years ago as an interim home. The two-bedroom home with its open floor plan offers spaciousness and comfort. A full upstairs that extends to a bonus room over the garage offers extra storage as well as an office for Matt. Alison’s décor would be described as trendy contemporary, with shades of tan and chocolate throughout the house. The main living area has well-placed green accents throughout with blue accents in the master bedroom. The craftsman-styled bedroom furniture and the dark wood dining table make this home’s interior look like a picture out of a Pottery Barn catalog.
