Pool demoltion begins

Work began Monday on the city swimming pool. With the monetary goals reached, Graves Plumbing of Switz City began to work on converting the old pool to a new, safe pool that should be completed by summer, according to the pool committee. Present for a ground breaking Monday were: Joe Wellman, pool fund raising committee; Elaine Wellman, city clerk-treasurer; Washington Mayor Larry Haag; Susan Leighty, pool fund raising committee; Art Biddinger, city councilman; and Dr. John Gray, member of the Washington board of works. Not pictured are committee chairman and cochairman, Chet and Pat Thompson. The committee raised $500,000 in donations.
