North Daviess High School will hold its commencement exercises at 7 p.m. Friday in the high school gymnasium.
This year’s valedictorian is Erin Wilson, daughter of John and Kathy Wilson of Odon.
She has received a varsity letter all four years in cross country, basketball, and softball. She has also been a member of Student Council, BETA Club, Science Club and Physics Club and is currently class reporter. She will be participating in her 10th year of 4-H this summer and is also the president of Jr. Leaders.
This fall, She will be attending Purdue University studying pharmaceutical sciences as her pre-med.
The salutatorian is Blane Lawyer, son of Steve and Polly Lawyer of Elnora. During high school he has been the class president for four years, along with being the vice president of the Beta Club and Science Club for one year. He has been a 4-year participant of varsity tennis and golf, band and jazz band.
He is a member of the Odon First Christian Church. This fall, he will be attending Purdue University to major in Prepharmacy.
During commencement, the high school band, directed by DeAnne Mayfield, will play “Pomp and Circumstance” after which an invocation will be offered by Sharayah Graber, student council representative, and the welcome and introduction by Connie Slowik, class vice president. Vanessa Workman will lead the class as a memoriam during which a candle will be lit in memory of classmate Lindsey Nelson.
A vocal selection by the high school choir, directed by Amy Dedina, will be followed by the salutatory address given by Lawyer, and the valedictory address given by Wilson.
An instrumental selection will be presented by the high school band. McKenzie Cox, class Red Cross representative will introduce the speaker, J. Merle Callahan who will address the graduates. Breanna Holder, class secretary, will give the response to the speaker.
Following a slide show created by the class of 2009, Willow Williams, student council representative, will give a reading.
The presentation of the class and diplomas will be conducted by Jed Jerrels, principal, Jeff Doyle, assistant principal, and Nicole Cook, guidance counselor. The benediction will be given by Casey Madsen, student council representative.
Class sponsors are Craig Koch and Laura Shafer.
