Loogootee Junior/Senior High School will hold its commencement at 7 p.m. today at Jack Butcher Sports Arena.
This year’s valedictorian is Jessica Lee Miller. Co-satutatorians are Sabrina Chanell Lengacher and Kathryn Danielle Smith.
Miller is the daughter of Delbert and Jenny Miller. She was class president and participated in band, Spanish club, Octagon club, Beta Club, PEERS, Spanish academic team, English academic team, math academic team, science academic team, interdisciplinary academic team, spell bowl and all-district honor bowl as well as being on the high honor roll.
She plans to attend Indiana University and major in Spanish.
Lengacher is the daughter of Wendell and Juanita Lengacher. She participated in advanced chorus, band, Spanish club, Octagon club, Beta club, Key club, PEERS, English academic team, Spanish academic team, social studies academic team, interdisciplinary academic team as well as being track manager and being on the high honor roll.
She plans to attend the University of Evansville and major in Spanish and Spanish education.
Smith is the daughter of Joseph Smith and Angelia Cox. She participated in chorus, Spanish club, National Honors Society, Beta clubs, FACS, science academic team, Spanish academic team, social studies academic team, interdisciplinary academic team and spell bowl.
She plans to attend the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and major in biomedical engineering with a Spanish minor.
Following the processional, Chelsi Lucas, LHS Student Council president, will give the opening remarks. The national anthem and musical selections will then be sung by the LHS chorus.
Speeches by the senior class officers will be followed by the valedictorian and salutatorian speeches.
The LHS band will perform “Battle Hymn of the Republic” following a slide presentation.
Diplomas will be presented by Larry Weitkamp, superintendent; John Mullen, principal; and Scott Reid, assistant principal. Mullen will then present the class and the recessional will follow closing remarks.
