WASHINGTON —
The Washington City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday in Council Chambers, 200 Harned Ave. Items included on the agenda: ordinance for appropriation and tax rate for 2012; open bids for 2012 rescue/pumper file apparatus; discussion of water leak adjustment policy; discussion of 2013 holidays for city employees.
The Board of Public Works and Safety will meet immediately following the council meeting. Items included on the agenda: discussion/approval of claims and permits, contracts for funds for 2013, request for speed limit signs, encroachment agreement with Vectren, contract with Midwestern Engineers.
Commissioners to meet
Daviess County Commissioners will meet in executive session at 8 a.m. Monday in the Commissioners’ Room at the courthouse to discuss litigation.
The regular session will be at 9 a.m. Items included on the agenda: Indiana Southern Railroad; local health maintenance grant; ordinance exercise of emergency powers; ADA compliance; ambulance contract.
Four Rivers directors to meet
The Daviess/Martin Four Rivers Board of Directors will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Martin County Division conference room in Loogootee. The agenda for the meeting will be posted at both the Four Rivers Daviess/Martin County Division offices in Washington and Loogootee.

Due to incorrect information supplied, the Cystic Fibrosis walk will not be held today. It will be held Sunday.

ND board to meet
The school board of trustees of the North Daviess Community Schools will meet in an open work session at 6 p.m. Monday at the elementary school to inspect the buildings and grounds.
The regular session will be at 7 p.m.
Items included on the agenda: bus contract transfer; bus route extension; narrow banding of two-way radios.
DC Health board to meet
The Daviess County Board of Health will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the Commissioners’ Room at the courthouse.
Loogootee school board meeting
Loogootee Community School Corporation Board of School Trustees will meet in executive session at 6 p.m. The open session will begin at 7 p.m.

Prejudging for the Daviess County Fair’s Little Miss and Mister contest will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Elnora Fire Station.

ND to adopt new textbooks
The North Daviess School Board approved the adoption of new reading textbooks for kindergarten through grade six.
Reading Street from Pearson Scott Foresman will be used for the next six years beginning in the fall. Text books fees for the upcoming school year will remain about the same for kindergarten through grade six. Textbooks for the junior and senior high will vary depending on the classes in which students enroll.

Man shot with BB gun
Monday
9:33 p.m. - A male caller at 603 N.W. Second St. said his roommate shot himself in the tongue with a pellet gun. The roommate told officers he thought the gun was not loaded. Both the caller and the roommate were taken to Daviess Community Hospital.

Hupmobile club to visit locally
If you see nearly two dozen classic cars rolling up and the down the roads of Daviess County and the surrounding areas next week, there’s a good chance you are seeing a Hupmobile. Beginning Sunday, the International Hupmobile Club will begin its annual tour, this time across southwest Indiana.

James D. Jones, 60, of Shoals has been identified as the suspect killed when gunfire was exchanged between Jones and State Trooper Jarrod Lents, a nine year veteran of the Indiana State Police
