VINCENNES — Washington resident Eddie Wayne Grisham, 35, was arrested Tuesday afternoon by Knox County Sheriff’s Department officials. Grisham was wanted on a felony warrant out of Vigo County for his participation in an attempted armed home invasion June 28 in Pimento. Knox County Sheriff Mike Morris, Chief Deputy Dan Mooney, Detective Mike Fisher, and Deputy Sonny Pinkstaff made the arrest at about 3:15 p.m. at the Vincennes Econolodge. Vigo County Lt. Det. Clark Cottom picked Grisham up at the Knox County Security Center and transported him to the Vigo County jail late Tuesday evening. He made a preliminary appearance in Vigo County Superior Court Division 6 on Wednesday on charges of attempted burglary, a Class B felony; residential entry, resisting law enforcement and two counts of criminal recklessness, all Class D felonies; and resisting law enforcement, a Class A misdemeanor. “The judge read the charges, and (Grisham) advised the court he’d hire his own attorney,” Cottom said. “He didn’t make any statements to the court.” A bond, with no 10 percent allowed, was set at $75,000, according to the detective. Grisham’s next court appearance will be Aug. 16 Grisham was one of three suspects in the June 28 incident. One of the other suspects, Antonio Rodriguez, 35, of Fort Wayne, was arrested at the scene by Vigo County sheriff’s deputies. He’s being held at Vigo County jail on $75,000 bond, with no 10 percent allowed, for attempted burglary and attempted residential entry. Grisham and a third, unidentified suspect, known only as “Guatemala,” led authorities on a chase after attempting to run down two deputies and fleeing the scene. Grisham was driving his vehicle, which later was disabled in a muddy cornfield and helped authorities identify him. He has since been the focus of an extensive manhunt leading through at least three other counties, including Daviess County. He is a suspect in the theft of a vehicle and other items in Sullivan County that occurred shortly after, and in close proximity to, the Vigo County incident. According to Marilyn Salesman of the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department, an analysis of evidence taken from the stolen vehicle has not yet been completed and reported to them by Indiana State Police. Guatemala, described as a Hispanic male about 6 feet tall and 250 pounds, is still at large.
