COUNTY ACCIDENTS

Monday

3:48 p.m. — Lloyd C. Ashley, 54, 2309 S. SR 57, was driving north on SR 257 S. in his 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser when, he stated, he believes he fell asleep and crossed the center line near CR 300S. He struck the driver’s side of a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado registered to Carolyn K. Schnarr and driven by Gilbert D. Schnarr, 72, Montgomery.

The southbound Schnarr vehicle spun and came to a stop facing northeast. David L. McComish, 58, Jasper, was in the southbound lane behind Schnarr and saw the accident happen in front of him, so he swerved his 2006 Ford Taurus to the right in an attempt to miss the collision. The Taurus left the road and struck a metal marking post before bottoming out and stopping in a yard on the west side of the highway.

Schnarr complained of pain to his shoulder/upper arm and was treated at the scene. Damage was estimated between $10,000 and $25,000.
