8:34 p.m. — A female caller said three males in hooded sweatshirts were chasing her near W. VanTrees Street. The juvenile female was taken home when two of the suspects were spotted. The suspects ran off.
6:22 p.m. — Chris Spradlin, 712 W. VanTrees St., reported a breaking and entering. A male was seen leaving the house as soon as he arrived. A suspect was named.
Saturday
6:27 p.m. — Sandra Wolven called to advise she found a knife near Lot 117 at Southview Trailer Court. An officer responded and picked up the knife.
2:45 p.m. — Ron Knepp, 803 N.W. Sixth St., reported a transformer had blown at 803 and 805 N.W. Sixth. Utility crews were called out.
CITY ACCIDENT
Wednesday
4:03 p.m. — While driving west on E. Nat’l Highway in a 2000 Dodge Neon, Nicholas L. Orchard, 30, 602 Lincoln St., was attempting to turn into Fast Max when a 2005 Ford Taurus driven by Betty R. Kelley, 77, 125 Sundale Trailer Ct., hit a 2000 Dodge Dakota driven by John K. Johnson, 45, 605 S.E. 11th St., Johnson’s truck then struck Orchard’s car from behind. Johnson was taken to Daviess Community Hospital with neck pain and Kelley had bruising due to airbag deployment. Damage was estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.

10:43 p.m. — Brian L. Norris, 375 N. Third St., Montgomery, reported he’d just arrived home and found his front door was broken in.
6:20 p.m. — A caller reported gun shots and explosions all day on the road south of CR 250S. An officer checked and found subjects target practicing in a safe environment.
ARRESTS
Tyree Robinson, 31, Washington, was arrested Saturday by sheriff’s deputies on a warrant for domestic battery, strangulation and three counts of child molesting. He was held at Daviess County Security Center on $500,000 bond.
Christina Lofton, 26, Carmi, Ill., was arrested by city police Saturday on a Wabash County, Ill., warrant. She was being held without bond for authorities from that sheriff’s department.
Jacob Cooper, 18, Washington, was arrested Saturday by city police for possession of marijuana under 30 grams and possession of paraphernalia. He was held on $4,000 bond.
Dylan Burris, 23, Washington, was arrested Friday by city police on a warrant for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, OVWI/endangerment, reckless driving, glue/toxic vapor sniffing, and failure to appear. He was held without bond.

Getting easier to be green
When most people think of recycling, they automatically think of aluminum cans or paper products. While the Washington Recycling Center accepts both of these items, the center also takes some items many people may not realize can be recycled. A traditional recycling program has been in place in the city since the 1990s but what is considered “traditional recyling” is always changing.

ND to adopt new textbooks
The North Daviess School Board approved the adoption of new reading textbooks for kindergarten through grade six.
Reading Street from Pearson Scott Foresman will be used for the next six years beginning in the fall. Text books fees for the upcoming school year will remain about the same for kindergarten through grade six. Textbooks for the junior and senior high will vary depending on the classes in which students enroll.

Man shot with BB gun
Monday
9:33 p.m. - A male caller at 603 N.W. Second St. said his roommate shot himself in the tongue with a pellet gun. The roommate told officers he thought the gun was not loaded. Both the caller and the roommate were taken to Daviess Community Hospital.

Hupmobile club to visit locally
If you see nearly two dozen classic cars rolling up and the down the roads of Daviess County and the surrounding areas next week, there’s a good chance you are seeing a Hupmobile. Beginning Sunday, the International Hupmobile Club will begin its annual tour, this time across southwest Indiana.

Shooter had minor legal issues
James D. Jones, 60, of Shoals has been identified as the suspect killed when gunfire was exchanged between Jones and State Trooper Jarrod Lents, a nine year veteran of the Indiana State Police

Lucille Dillon, the first lady of tourism in Daviess County, died Saturday. She was 76.

A Washington City Councilman announced Monday his intentions to run for the state senate.

An Indiana State Trooper was injured following a shooting on U.S. 50 Monday.

4-year-old dies after incident at Eastside Park
A 4-year-old who was found in the water of the overflow of Baumert Lake, near the Pavilion at Eastside Park, was pronounced dead at Daviess Community Hospital.
