2:53 a.m. — An employee of American Rental advised a Dell computer owned by the company was sold to Pawn It in Vincennes.
Tuesday
9:24 p.m. — Jessie Ellis, 405 E. South St., Apt. 8, reported the theft of a glass-topped, hammered brown picnic table from in front of their apartment. It was the second time the $300 table had been stolen.
CITY ACCIDENT
Monday
5:41 p.m. — Krystal J. Hart, 25, Winslow, was driving west on U.S. 50E in a 2000 Oldsmobile Alero registered to John D. Hellman, Velpen. She applied the brakes and attempted to stop behind traffic stopped at a red light at SR 57. She told officers she believed the vehicle slid in mud on the highway, and she slid into a 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Regina A. Knepp, 34, 4748E 100N. The impact caused the Knepp vehicle to strike the rear of a 2003 Honda CRV driven by Trevor A. Dowling, 44, 304 Harned Ave., Apt. 7. No injuries were reported. Damage was estimated between $10,000 and $25,000.
COUNTY REPORT
Tuesday
12:43 p.m. — Elnora Town Marshal Ron Hooker advised a semi driver tried to turn around in the street and damaged the yard at 534 S. Ellen St. The 2007 International semi got stuck in the highway. A field report was made.
11:22 a.m. — A caller reported his wallet was stolen at Par-T-Pac Liquors in Montgomery. He requested an officer look at security tape. An offense report was made.
9:42 a.m. — A caller requested an officer to pick up possible drug-related items on CR 300W between Old U.S. 50 and the U.S. 50 bypass.
ARRESTS
Juan Jesus Lopez, 18, Washington, was arrested Tuesday by city police for possession of marijuana under 30 grams and possession of paraphernalia. He was held at the Daviess County Security Center on $4,000 bond.

Refugee overcomes barriers to graduate WHS
Seh Reh, like many who has come to Washington as a Burmese refugee, found life in his new home daunting. The language was so intimidating that he dropped out of high school in 2010.

North Daviess still facing budget cuts
Members of the state legislature gave schools a two percent increase but North Daviess Community Schools Superintendent Robert Bell said the corporation will still get funding cuts over the next four years.

Three injured in accident
Three persons were injured Thursday afternoon when a driver ran a red light on the U.S. 50 Bypass south of Washington at SR 257.

Wrestlers for relay
The Team Todd Relay for Life team will be joining with Tri-State Wrestling to bring an event to the Old Petersburg Gym on Saturday. Doors will open at 6 p.m. with bell time at 7 p.m. Admission is $5 and children under 4 are free. All proceeds from the event go to the Daviess County Relay for Life Team Todd.

Dollar General focuses on reading
The Dollar General Literacy Foundation announced an award of $7,800 to the Washington Carnegie Public Library to support the new adult literacy program being now being offered.

Letters returned after 55 years
Fifty-five years ago Jerry Decker wrote letters back home to his sweetheart, Carol, from Camp Pendleton, California where he was based in the Marine Corps. Fifty-five years later, Jerry still had his letters from Carol. But Carol, now Jerry¹s wife of 52 years, had, well misplaced a few of hers.
