Monday

12:33 p.m. — An employee of Dollar General Store, 900 W. Nat’l Hwy., reported a female shoplifter. One female was transported to the security center and another will be long-formed.

7:08 a.m. — The owner of Chatterbox Daycare, 214 S.E. Seventh St., advised someone gained entry to the daycare through a window. Officers will provide extra patrol.

Sunday

11:37 p.m. — Jay Berry reported a house fire on Vine Street near Wright Avenue. The structure was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived. They were on the scene until 1:13 a.m.

8:43 p.m. — Barbara Duncan reported a break-in at her mother-in-law’s house, 611 N.W. Sixth St. Entry was gained by busting in the side door.

7:11 p.m. — An employee of Fast Max, 1202 E. Nat’l Hwy., reported the drive-off theft of $55.74 in gas by someone in a tan, four-door Dodge Intrepid.

2:08 p.m. — Heather Prewett, 1307 Washington Ave., reported the theft of a pink girls bike.

Saturday

6:42 p.m. — Kay Venters advised she cashed a check in Loogootee and came to Washington to shop. When she went to pay for purchases at Traderbakers she discovered the envelope with $400-$500 in cash was missing.

12:17 p.m. — Megan Aldrich advised she struck a deer on U.S. 50 west of the Perdue turnoff.

COUNTY REPORT

Sunday

2:42 p.m. — A caller reported witnessing a male subject, whose name was given, throwing roofing nails at Old Orchard Lane. Deputies went looking for the subject and spoke to the complainant.

9:21 a.m. — Kathy E. Durnil, 5 Cindy Kay Dr., reported 2004 black Grand Prix was stolen. An offense report was made. At 10:17 a.m. a deputy was advised to contact WPD because officers located the vehicle at 528 Front St.

COUNTY ACCIDENTS

Sunday

12:08 a.m. — Brian L. Critchlow, 3389S 125E, was southbound on CR 375W near CR 350N when his 1992 Chevrolet Corvette quit running. He walked to a friend’s house to get tools to fix the car, and when he returned, the vehicle was on fire. His attempt to put the fire out with a fire extinguisher was unsuccessful. Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. Damage was estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.

Saturday

11:14 a.m. — Shaleigh D. Lewandowski, 24, 104 Larue Ct., was driving south on SR 57 in her 2002 GM Envoy, following Erik N. Summitt, 30, Princeton. She stated traffic suddenly slowed and she attempted to stop, but was unable to avoid colliding with the rear of Summitt’s 2003 Ford F150. Summitt also said traffic suddenly slowed and when he slowed down, Lewandowski rear-ended him. Damage was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.

Friday

4:41 p.m. — Sarah A. Dykes, 17, 614 S.E. Second St., was southbound on CR 75E in a 2006 Pontiac Vibe registered to William Dykes, 1208 W. Walnut St. with a passenger. Tyler J. Long, 19, 905 Biddinger Ln., was northbound in his 1990 Chevrolet pickup. The two vehicles met in a curve near CR 250N, where Long went left of center and collided with the Dykes vehicle. Long stated he was going a little too fast and when he applied the brakes they locked up and he went left of center. Damage was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.

ARRESTS

Travis James Branham, 31, Washington, was arrested Sunday by city police on a Knox County warrant. He was held at Daviess County Security Center for Knox County authorities.

Edward Garcia, 33, Washington, was arrested by excise police Sunday for possession of a false ID. He was held on $2,000 bond.

Jacob Bowling, 18, Washington, was arrested Sunday by city police for glue sniffing, theft, public intoxication, and minor possession of alcohol. He was held without bond.

Danglis Velazquez, 22, Evansville, was arrested by city police Sunday for OVWI, OVWI/refusal, and operating a vehicle while never receiving a license. He was held on $6,000 bond. 

Marco Luna-Perez, 20, Washington, was arrested by excise police Sunday for operating a vehicle while never receiving a license and minor possession of alcohol. He was held on $4,000 bond.

Bradley Devine, 42, Washington, was arrested Saturday by a conservation officer for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He was held on $2,000 bond

MARTIN COUNTY REPORT

Sunday

6:59 p.m. — Dispatch received a report of kids throwing rocks at horses on Ivy Lane. Deputy Greene responded.

12:49 p.m. — A possible drunk driver was reported in Loogootee. Loogootee Police Department was dispatched.

10:33 a.m. — An accident was reported south of CR 1050N. Deputy Baker responded and advised it was a slide-off, and everything was OK.

3:55 a.m. — An accident was reported on U.S. 50 just west of Loogootee. Deputy Greene and Daviess County deputies responded.

Saturday

9:57 p.m. — A fire was reported in the back of the Shoals Eagles building. Shoals Fire Department responded.

9:52 p.m. — A caller reported a possible impaired driver on U.S. 231. Deputy Greene located the vehicle.

8:05 p.m. — Dispatch received a call about a missing vehicle from Ubelhor’s in Jasper. Deputy Greene located the vehicle.
