WHS fans asked to wear gold

WASHINGTON — Hatchet fans are asked to wear gold tonight for the homecoming game with Princeton.

Red Cross blood drive Saturday

The Daviess County Chapter of the American Red Cross is sponsoring the following blood drives in January.

They include:

Saturday - Knights of Columbus, 319 E. Main St., 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Jan. 29 - North Daviess High School (cafeteria), 55498 E. SR 58, Elnora, 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Blood donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health, and cannot have given blood in the past 56 days.

The Red Cross is especially low on Type O+ and O-, but all types are desperately needed.

Feed My Sheep to be Saturday

Feed My Sheep will distribute groceries from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 601 W. Oak St.

 There will be no admittance to the building until 9 a.m. and the doors will be locked at 1 p.m.

Groceries will be distributed at the Odon Nazarene Church, SR 58, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday for persons with Odon and Elnora addresses.

Emergency food will only be given by referral from another agency. Connections can be reached at 257-2650

  • ND to adopt new textbooks

    The North Daviess School Board approved the adoption of new reading textbooks for kindergarten through grade six.

    Reading Street from Pearson Scott Foresman will be used for the next six years beginning in the fall.  Text books fees for the upcoming school year will remain about the same for kindergarten through grade six. Textbooks for the junior and senior high will vary depending on the classes in which students enroll.

  • Man shot with BB gun

    Monday

    9:33 p.m. - A male caller at 603 N.W. Second St. said his roommate shot himself in the tongue with a pellet gun. The roommate told officers he thought the gun was not loaded. Both the caller and the roommate were taken to Daviess Community Hospital.

  • Hupmobile club to visit locally

    If you see nearly two dozen classic cars rolling up and the down the roads of Daviess County and the surrounding areas next week, there’s a good chance you are seeing a Hupmobile.  Beginning Sunday, the International Hupmobile Club will begin its annual tour, this time across southwest Indiana.
