NORTH VERNON —
Four area men were airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital following a two-car accident on U.S. 50 in Jennings County on Monday.
According to reports from the Columbus Republic and WISH-TV in Indianapolis, the four, including Kevin Wagler of Loogootee, were taken to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis after they hit a truck head-on.
Wagler, according to a Methodist representative, is in good condition. The names and conditions of the others traveling in Wagler’s vehicle were not known as of press time. Several messages were left with the Jennings County Sheriff’s Department.
According to the department and quoted in the Republic report, Wagler was traveling eastbound on U.S. 50 near CR 175N around 5:30 a.m. when he missed a turn in the road.
Wagler’s vehicle then crashed head-on into a vehicle driven by Jerry Gabbard, North Vernon, who was stopped on CR 175N.
Three helicopters were needed at the accident scene for the four men. Gabbard was taken by ambulance to St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon.
