Police report

WASHINGTON —

CITY REPORT

Monday

1:21 p.m. — A male caller advised he was driving by 613 SE 11th St. and saw a male subject set a fire in the garage. Officers found Kane Slater, 18, had lit a paper in a box to watch it burn. There were items around it that could’ve caught fire, and Slater’s mother, girlfriend and an 8-month-old baby were inside the residence at the time. Charges are pending.

8:13 a.m. — Cecil Jones, 2487 W. Nat’l Hwy., reported the theft of a TV, daggers, swords and money.

7:52 a.m. — Mark Franklin, 705 N.W. Second St., reported the theft of medication from his residence.

COUNTY REPORT

Friday

4:50 p.m. — An employee of White River Co-op in Plainville reported the drive-off theft of $32.23 in fuel by subjects in a red Ford station wagon. Descriptions were given and plates were run. A deputy went to the Knox County line and could not locate the vehicle, which had been reported missing from Gibson County. Gibson County authorities were notified.

4:40 p.m. — An employee of Fast Max in Elnora reported the drive-off theft of $14.03 in gas by someone in a silver car that went southbound on SR 57.

ARRESTS

Lynsey J. Osmon, 30, Odon, was arrested Sunday by Odon police for possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia. She was held at Daviess County Security Center without bond.

Kelly J. Phillips, 35, Vincennes, was arrested by sheriff’s deputies Sunday on a warrant for petition to revoke a suspended sentence for forgery. She was held on $10,000 bond.

Heather A. Schroeder, 42, Washington, was arrested by city police Sunday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. She was held on $2,000 bond.

David B. Angeles, 53, Washington, was arrested by city police Sunday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He was held on $2,000 bond.

Christopher L. Reese, 50, Washington, was arrested Sunday by city police for intimidation, domestic battery, public intoxication and cruelty to an animal. He was held on $13,500 bond.

Martina Fuentes, 43, Washington, was arrested Saturday by city police on a warrant for failure to appear. She was released on $2,500 bond.

Miranda J. Grissom, 33, Washington, was arrested by sheriff’s deputies Saturday on a warrant for failure to appear. She was released on $2,000 bond.

Frank L. Smith, 23, Washington, was arrested Saturday by city police for possession of stolen property. He was held without bond.

Michael A. Norrington, 18, Washington, was arrested Saturday by city police for possession of stolen property. He was released on $2,500 bond.

Robert A. Flickinger Jr., 42, Washington, was arrested by sheriff’s deputies Friday on a warrant for theft. He was released on $2,500 bond.

Robert L. Baker, 51, Washington, was arrested by city police Friday for public intoxication and criminal conversion. He was held on $4,000 bond.

MARTIN COUNTY REPORT

Monday

5:26 a.m. — Dispatch received a call about a car/deer accident on U.S. 231 near Bramble.

Sunday

11:13 p.m. — A chimney fire was reported on Jackman Hill Road. Lost River and Shoals fire departments responded.

1:49 a.m. — Dispatch received a report of someone stealing gas in Katy Did Trailer Park.

Saturday

7:41 p.m. — A domestic disturbance was reported on Dover Hill Road. State police handled the call.

6:40 p.m. — A domestic disturbance was reported on U.S. 231.

    The Loogootee School Board hired five new teachers Tuesday night for the upcoming school year.

    High school principal John Mullen introduced the three teachers who will work in his building, which houses the high school and the middle school. Jeff Richardson and Bo Gibson will teach upper level mathematics, while Annie Miller will teach junior high math.

While the Washington Recycling Center accepts both of these items, the center also takes some items many people may not realize can be recycled. A traditional recycling program has been in place in the city since the 1990s but what is considered “traditional recyling” is always changing.

  • ND to adopt new textbooks

    The North Daviess School Board approved the adoption of new reading textbooks for kindergarten through grade six.

    Reading Street from Pearson Scott Foresman will be used for the next six years beginning in the fall.  Text books fees for the upcoming school year will remain about the same for kindergarten through grade six. Textbooks for the junior and senior high will vary depending on the classes in which students enroll.

  • Man shot with BB gun

    Monday

    9:33 p.m. - A male caller at 603 N.W. Second St. said his roommate shot himself in the tongue with a pellet gun. The roommate told officers he thought the gun was not loaded. Both the caller and the roommate were taken to Daviess Community Hospital.

  • Hupmobile club to visit locally

    If you see nearly two dozen classic cars rolling up and the down the roads of Daviess County and the surrounding areas next week, there’s a good chance you are seeing a Hupmobile.  Beginning Sunday, the International Hupmobile Club will begin its annual tour, this time across southwest Indiana.
