Saturday
7:21 p.m. — Walmart advised Lindsey Ervin was being detained for shoplifting. She will be long-formed for theft and driving while suspended.
9:19 p.m. — A female reported a kitchen fire at 1307 Maxwell Ave.
The fire department responded and reported a small grease fire was out when they arrived.
Friday
9:37 p.m. — An employee at 57 Liquors advised a male and female inside the store had run off with $50 in lottery tickets.
They attempted to pay for the tickets and liquor with a check and when it wouldn’t clear they grabbed the tickets and ran out.
The employee couldn’t advise the direction of travel or give a vehicle description. Officers will review the video.

Monday
12:21 a.m. — A caller reported an accident with injuries on U.S. 231. Martin County took over the accident reporting due to the accident being in its county.
Sunday
3:17 p.m. — An unknown complainant made a report of a stolen ATV. Before deputies could arrive, the caller said the ATV was found.
Saturday
12:57 a.m. — A caller said six horses were out in the road near CRs 900E and 300N. The property owners were informed.
Friday
4:50 a.m. — A caller reported a personal injury accident near Hudsonville. Harrison volunteer firefighters responded and a report was made.

4:50 a.m. — Bryanne D. Warne, 20, 610 Sunset Ave., was driving a 2002 GMC Yukon on CR 800S when she reportedly blacked out, running off the road and hitting a tree.
She suffered bruises to her head and damage was reported between $2,500 and $5,000.
Saturday
2:18 p.m. — Robert H. Begeman, 88, Indianapolis, was driving a 2000 Volvo V70 north on SR 57 near CR 1550N, where he reportedly lost consciousness, driving off the road, hitting several trees and coming to rest on a tree.
No injuries were reported and damage was estimated between $10,000 and $25,000.

Sunday
11:47 p.m. — A caller made a report of semi vs. buggy accident on U.S. 231. All individuals did not need medical treatment.
12:44 p.m. — A caller made a report of dogs attacking cows on Brooks Bridge road. A deputy responded.
Saturday
3:20 p.m. — Dispatch received a call of a possible stolen vehicle in the Scenic Hill area. Loogootee police responded and found the vehicle.
11:40 a.m. — A caller reported a car on fire on U.S. 150 near Rusk Road. Deputies and the Shoals and Lost River fire departments responded.
ARRESTS
Lenzie Miller, 18, Washington, was arrested by city police Saturday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, endangering a person.
She was released from the Daviess County Security Center on $4,000 bond.
Alan Frederick Marshall, 42, Washington, was arrested Saturday on a petition to revoke a suspended sentence for possession of cocaine.
He was released on $10,000 bond.
Justin D. Sheetz, Washington, was arrested by city police Sunday for failure to report an accident. He was released on $2,000 bond.
Randall Lee Thomas, 32, Washington, was arrested by city police Monday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, refusal with a controlled substance.
He was being held on $2,000 bond.

PIKE COUNTY ACCIDENT
Monday
6:59 a.m. — Two Washington men were involved in a four-vehicle accident on SR 57 just north of the Pike/Gibson County line.
According to a release from the Pike County Sheriff’s Department, Patrick Monaghan II, 33, Washington, was driving a 2000 Buick when he lost consciousness, causing his vehicle to drift and and sideswipe a 1996 International tractor driven by Paul Tannahill, 37, Cisne, Ill.
The Buick then continued to hit a 1998 Chevrolet truck driven by Derek Eskew, 26, Washington. A fourth vehicle, a 2002 Ford pickup driven by Scott Wheeler, 54, Robards, Ky., drove over debris from the accident.
Monaghan had to be cut out of the vehicle and he and Eskew were transported to Daviess Community Hospital where they were treated and released. Wheeler and Tannahill did not need medical attention.
Monaghan was cited for driving left of center.

Republicans to vote on new trustee
Republicans from Washington Township will meet today to vote on a new township trustee.
Fifteen committee chairmen from Washington Township will vote at 8:45 a.m. today to fill the position following the death of Albert “Pete” Showalter, who died on April 13. -

Barr-Reeve High School will hold its 48th commencement exercises on May 25, in the high school gymnasium at 2 p.m. Again this year, the graduation will be an afternoon affair.

1:03 a.m. - Karen Hulsey, of 511 S. Meridian St. reported a subject possibly hiding the bushes behind her residence. She stated she didn’t see anyone, but could hear coughing. -
School board approves new handbooks
Members of the Washington Community Schools Board approved the 2013- 2014 school handbooks. Elementary, junior high and high school student handbooks will now be more streamlined with one another. One major change to the handbooks will be a stricter attendance policy for students. Currently, students in the school district can have 10 unexcused absences per semester.

Unchained Gang roars into park
The Daviess County Unchained Gang will be hosting its 11th annual motorcycle show and swap meet Saturday at Eastside Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Members of the Washington High School DECA Chapter will be hosting a DECA Dodgeball Tournament on Tuesday in the Hatchet House beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Road paving in Washington
The Indiana Department of Transportation is advising motorists to be aware of temporary lane restrictions on Bus. 50 in Washington. Beginning on or after Monday, May 20, crews will be spot paving throughout the city. Work will be accomplished one lane at a time and utilize flag persons to control traffic through the work zones. Work activities are scheduled to take place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day with all paving operations anticipated to be complete by May 24. Inclement weather will cancel the work operation for the day.
