WASHINGTON —
Girls high school basketball begins locally this evening as South Knox visits North Daviess for a 6 p.m. girls scrimmage.
That is just the first of several games, kicking off the new campaign.
Washington welcomes North Posey to the Hatchet House for a 6 p.m. game Friday. Barr-Reeve visits Clay City at 7 p.m. while Washington Catholic is at White River Valley, beginning at 6 p.m.
Loogootee had been scheduled to host South Spencer at 1 p.m. Saturday, but that game has been cancelled with the Lions playing that day in the Class A state volleyball championship at Ball State in Muncie.
Washington and Washington Catholic are the first area teams to play games that count.
The Hatchets welcome South Knox to the Hatchet House for a 6 p.m. junior varsity start Nov. 8. Washington Catholic and North Daviess play at North Daviess the same day at 6 p.m. as well.

WHS camp is Monday
The Washington Hatchet's Summer Tennis Camp begins Monday at the Lena Dunn Elementary School courts.
Boys and girls entering grades three through eight this coming school year wishing to participate may register when the camp begins at 9 a.m. The camp continues each day until 10:30 a.m. through Thursday.
Each player should bring a racket (one can be provided), a towel and a water bottle.
The cost of the camp is $25 per person. Checks should be made to WHS Boys Tennis. -
Washington Catholic High School is seeking coaches for the fall season.
Coaching positions open include: varsity and junior varsity volleyball; junior high volleyball, and junior high boys soccer.
