Cardinals fall to Lions after early lead

SELLSERSBURG — Rock Creek Community School broke away from Washington Catholic after the Cardinals established a lead for a 68-40 win Saturday.

Washington Catholic (2-12) led 7-6 at the first stop before Rock Creek won the second quarter, 18-5. The Lions then outscored the Cardinals in identical 22-14 quarters in the final half.

TJ Hill was the lone Cardinal in double figures with 19 points. Brian Brown and Nick Boyd each scored six.

Devin Burt scored 15 for Rock Creek and Tanner Gerth had 14.

    Loogootee’s Zach Wagler placed second and fourth in two events at Thursday's boys track sectional.
    Wagler placed second in the 1,600 meters in a time of 4:33.15, and was fourth in the 3,200 meters in 10:21.
