WASHINGTON —
SULLIVAN — The Washington Freedom American Legion baseball team picked up its second win of the season, with a 7-4 win over Sullivan on Tuesday in Sullivan in nine innings.
The Freedom were led by Loogootee’s Bryce Wilz who went six inning on the mound to pick up the win. He was relieved by Loogootee’s Jess Horney, who picked up the save, along with reaching base seven times.
Washington’s Ty Edmiston had a double and was 2-6 and drove in a pair of runs. Washington’s Hunter Thurston also added a pair of hits and Barr-Reeve’s Connor Swartzentruber also had a hit.
“I thought we played really well said Freedom manager Jeff Truelove. “Bryce pitched well and his catcher Michael Hawkins from Shoals had another great game behind the plate.”
Washington Post 121 and 120 lost on Sunday to Evansville Pate, 11-1 in a seven inning contest at Evansville.

WHS camp is Monday
The Washington Hatchet's Summer Tennis Camp begins Monday at the Lena Dunn Elementary School courts.
Boys and girls entering grades three through eight this coming school year wishing to participate may register when the camp begins at 9 a.m. The camp continues each day until 10:30 a.m. through Thursday.
Each player should bring a racket (one can be provided), a towel and a water bottle.
The cost of the camp is $25 per person. Checks should be made to WHS Boys Tennis. -
Washington Catholic High School is seeking coaches for the fall season.
Coaching positions open include: varsity and junior varsity volleyball; junior high volleyball, and junior high boys soccer.
