LAWRENCEVILLE, Ill. —
North Daviess improved to 2-0 in girls varsity basketball with a 62-29 victory against Lawrenceville (Ill.) Monday evening.
The Cougars have only surrendered 44 points in its two victories this season. North Daviess was led by Sabra Smith with 20 points. Junior Meghan Knepp scored 11 points, and Brooke Moore, Maggie Schwartzentruber and Makayla Spears scored eight a piece.
Lady Hatchets even record
Washington’s seventh grade girls basketball team evened its mark at 1-1 with a 36-20 win against Pike Central in its home opener.
The Hatchets were led in scoring by Jalynn Austin with 12 and Elizabeth Stallman with eight points. Sarah Lewis and Havyn Myers scored four each. Lily Durnil, Hannah Shrieves and Tyra Thombleson also added two points a piece.
Washington opend the season this past Thursday, losing to Princeton, 23-18.
Leading the way for the Hatchets was Elizabeth Stallman with seven points, followed by Sara Lewis and Jalynn Austin with three. Lily Durnil and Hannah Shrieves with two, and Lakota Jones one.
Stoll receives award
Washington’s Tyler Stoll has been named the WFIE Player of the Week.
To win the award from the Evansville television station, the player must have a GPA of at least 3.0, be involved with the community along with athletic acheivements.
Stoll plays varsity tennis, basketball and golf for Washington.
The award was presented Wednesday.
Hatchets drop Chargers
Washington’s eighth grade girls basketball team defeated Pike Central, 25-10 Tuesday.
Calie Garland scored nine points for the Hatchets, Neida Revolorio scored six, Mary Barnard and Gissele Santos four each and Madison Murphy two.
Hatchets fall to Heritage Hills
LINCOLN CITY — The seventh grade Washington boys basketball team lost two games to Heritage Hills. In the first game, the Hatchets lost 53-22.
Scoring for the Hatchets were Michael Deaves, Cameron Osmon, and Isaac Whitehead with four each, Billy Fleetwood, Gage Latham, Jamal Robinson and Sam Erb two each and Sam Francis and Coby Robinson one each.
In the second game, the Hatchets lost 34-27.
Scoring for the Hatchets were Brandon Wolfe with six points, Michael Deaves scored five, Cameron Osmon, Sam Erb, and Wesley Edwards four each and Colin Elliot and Jake Ledgerwood two each.
Vikings win 2nd game
MONTGOMERY — Barr-Reeve’s eighth grade boys basketball team inproved to 2-0 with a 55-37 win Monday against Springs Valley.
Jonny Walker scored points for Barr-Reeve, Trevor Lengacher scored 11, Kolten Graber and Macaleb Stoll eight each, Will Scott six, Mitchell Wagler three, Trent Graber, Levi Murdoch and Hawk Royer two each.
Vikings gain split with Jeeps
DUBOIS — Barr-Reeve’s fifth and sixth grade boys basketball teams split a pair of season-opening games Tuesday with Northeast Dubois.
Northeast Dubois won the sixth grade game, 39-28.
Nathan Hunt scored 10 points for the Vikings, Conner Heller and Keegan O’Neil scored six each, Mitchell Kavanaugh four and Jacob Wagler two.
Barr-Reeve won the fifth grade game, 40-30.
Isaac Wagler scored 10 points for the Vikings, Ross Knepp scored eight, Quenten Yoder sevenn, Gabe Gladish and Tristan Graber six each and Gage Wilson three.

Dubois wins Loogootee Sectional
For the second time this season, Northeast Dubois got the best of Barr-Reeve in girls tennis.
Northeast Dubois defeated Barr-Reeve 5-0 Thursday afternoon to win the Loogootee girls tennis sectional. -
WHS girls soccer call-out meeting
A Washington girls soccer call-out meeting will be held Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Lena Dunn cafeteria. The meeting is for girls entering 7th-12th graders who are interested in junior high and high school soccer.

Senior night is always an event packed with emotion, but this was different.
The North Daviess softball team (20-7) defeated Jasper 8-4 Friday night at North Daviess on a Senior Night that meant so much to the home team.

Wagler places 2nd in 1600 meters
Loogootee’s Zach Wagler placed second and fourth in two events at Thursday's boys track sectional.
Wagler placed second in the 1,600 meters in a time of 4:33.15, and was fourth in the 3,200 meters in 10:21. -
Jeffers, Reed named to SWIAC team
Taylor Jeffers and Madison Reed were named All-Southwestern Indiana Athletic Conference in tennis by winning first doubles at the conference meet.

A call-out meeting for boys entering grades seven through 12 next school year who wish to play football at Washington is at 7 p.m. Sunday.

Bloomfield eliminates ND
Bloomfield eliminated North Daviess, 4-1, Wednesday in the opening round of the girls tennis sectional.
Madison Reed-Taylor Jeffers won for North Daviess at first doubles, defeating Lexi Place-Emily Bucher, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3.
In singles, Cari Jo Wilson, Brytni Bray and Nicole Woodruff were defeated, 6-1, 6-2, 6-1, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-1 respectively.
Caitlin Chestnut-Michael Sprinkle were also defeated at second doubles in straight 6-2 sets. -
Graber has two-hitter
Lucas Graber held Bloomfield to two hits and Barr-Reeve's offense did the rest in a 10-0 six-inning baseball victory Tuesday.
