WASHINGTON —
On Wednesday afternoon Washington girls track coach Dave Harman was notified that due to a scoring error, the team moved from third place to second in the IHSAA track sectional on Tuesday.
Harman said he was extremely proud of his team's performance across the board, having girls advance in 9 of 11 spots.
"It was our best meet of the year as a team. All three of our relays bettered their time from 2 to 5 seconds," said Harman.
Harman was particularly proud of his winners, Chloe Heller and Madison Decker, along with thrower Ashlyn Stoll, who became a two-time discus champion on Tuesday
"Chloe and Madison are running extremely well and have a good chance to make it to the state meet on June 1st,Ó said Harman. ÒChloe set a new sectional record in the 3,200 meter run by nine seconds. Madison is getting better with each meet and she hasnÕt had anybody challenge her yet for the entire four laps of the 1600 meters. ÊNext week will be a true test for her."
Harman is also look forward to watching sophomore Jenna Legg and exchange student Maria Lederer, along with the relay teams.
"Jenna Legg has done a great job of competing in her events the past two meets (conference and sectional). She was injuried the entire season last year as a freshman," added Harman."Maria Lederer from Germany has made a big impactand the girls enjoy having her on the team.
"The 4x800 team is made up of three freshmen, The team is very young with a bright future."
