Hatchets fall at ND; girls soccer loses

WASHINGTON — Hatchets fall at ND

ELNORA — The Washington High School volleyball team lost to North Daviess Tuesday evening in three games 25-18, 25-18 and 25-19. The Hatchets were led in assists by Jordan Carr and Amber Taylor with 11 and 10 respectively. Rachel Chattin led Washington in digs with 18.

Cards falls to Wood, PC

WASHINGTON — The Washington Catholic volleyball team lost Monday and Tuesday to Wood Memorial and Pike Central, to drop its record to 0-4. On Monday, the Lady Cardinals varsity lost  in three matches 25-22, 25-23 and 25-12. On Tuesday, Pike Central dealt the Cardinals another loss in three straight 25-13, 25-17 and 25-7.

WC soccer downs PC

WASHINGTON –– The Washington Catholic Lady Cardinals are now 2-0 on the season after defeating the Pike Central Lady Chargers 4-0. The Cardinals were led by Elizabeth Perkins who had all four goals. Olivia Williams and Lexi May each had an assist. Sydney Dunbar and Gracen Jarrett combined for the shutout.

The Washington Catholic boys defeated the Chargers 5-1, Colton Reed and Blaine Fuhs each had two goals and Brantly Smith added one. Christian Neace tallied three assists with Smith and Reed each with one. Both Cardinal teams play Thursday against Northeast Dubois.

Vikes stays undefeated

MONTGOMERY — The Barr-Reeve junior varsity and varsity volleyball teams both improved to 3-0 with victories against Evansville Rivet Tuesday evening. The varsity moved past Rivet 25-11, 25-10 and 25-11. The junior varsity won in consecutive games 25-16 and 25-15 and were led in points by sophomore Molly Wallace, Courtney Pruett and Kirsten Purdue.

LHS improves to 3-0

MONTGOMERY –– Loogootee high school volleyball continued their undefeated season with a three game victory against Linton Tuesday evening 25-14, 25-15 and 27-25. The Lions were led in kills by Christina Ziegler with a team-high 18 followed by Michala Beasley and Abby Ackerman with 15 and 9, respectively.

Earthquake softball tryouts

The Indiana Earthquake 99 14u fastpitch softball team will be holding tryouts on Aug. 29 at 6 pm in Evansville. The location will be at Scott Field located on Hwy 41 across from the fairgrounds.   • Freedom win first game of summer

    Trevor Claridge went the distance to give the Washington Freedom its first win of the season in a 10-5 win over Sullivan. After Claridge surrendered one run in each of the first two innings, Washington broke out with a five-run rally in the top of the third. Sullivan crept closer at 5-3 with a run in the bottom of the inning, and Washington added two more runs to extend the lead to 7-3 and put the game out of reach.
