Hatchets remain undefeated
In the opening game of the Southern Indiana Junior High Soccer Conference, the Washington boys soccer team defeated Mount Carmel 2-0 Wednesday.
The Hatchets (13-0) got their first goal from Matthew Trueblood, who finished off a corner kick from Luiz Perez. Solomon Davis scored Washington’s second goal off a give-and-go from Perez. The Hatchets are the No. 1 seed in the tournament taking place at the sports complex. Washington will face No. 3 Pike Central Saturday at 5:30 p.m. and No. 2 Jasper Saturday at 8:30 p.m.
WC boys, girls finish up season
The Washington Catholic Middle School boys soccer team lost 3-2 to Pike Central in the first game of the Southern Indiana Junior High Conference Tournament.
Brock Craney and Grant Davis accounted for the two goals for the Cardinals.
The girls lost to Princeton in their first game, 4-2. Christina Smith and Hannah Ashby scored a goal a piece for the Lady Cardinals. Both the boys and girls finish their season on Saturday.
Cougars defeat Thunderbirds
ELNORA — North Daviess defeated North Central, 25-11, 25-19, 27-25, in volleyball.
Alexis Brewer and Taylor Jeffers each had 17 digs for the Cougars (16-8).
Madison Reed had 13 assists, Jeffers had nine kills. Lenzi Brewer added six aces.

For the second time this season, Northeast Dubois got the best of Barr-Reeve in girls tennis.

WHS girls soccer call-out meeting
A Washington girls soccer call-out meeting will be held Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Lena Dunn cafeteria. The meeting is for girls entering 7th-12th graders who are interested in junior high and high school soccer.

Wagler places 2nd in 1600 meters
Loogootee’s Zach Wagler placed second and fourth in two events at Thursday's boys track sectional.
