WASHINGTON —
The Washington Junior High School girls cross country team placed second at the Loogootee meet Monday, while the boys placed second.
The girls had two runners in the top 15 and Emily Matthews finished third overall with a time of 12:51. The Hatchet boys had four runners finish in the top 16, with Jamal Robinson placing eighth with a time of 11:21.
Vikings top Rivet for first victory
MONTGOMERY — The Barr-Reeve seventh and eighth grade volleyball teams both earned their first victories of the season Monday evening. The seventh grade defeated Vincennes Rivet, 25-5, 25-10, as their top two servers for the match were Hunter Emmons and Annie Graber. The eighth grade moved past Rivet, 25-4, 25-9, as their three leading servers for the night were Leah Bullock, Hannah Graber and Peyton Lengacher.
Softball event at Bicknell
BICKNELL — The Bicknell Labor Day Co-Ed Softball Tournament is Sept. 3.
No double-ball wall or composite bats are allowed.
A one-and-one count will be used.

WHS camp is Monday
The Washington Hatchet's Summer Tennis Camp begins Monday at the Lena Dunn Elementary School courts.
Boys and girls entering grades three through eight this coming school year wishing to participate may register when the camp begins at 9 a.m. The camp continues each day until 10:30 a.m. through Thursday.
Each player should bring a racket (one can be provided), a towel and a water bottle.
