All Blue Chip Conference team announced

MONTGOMERY — Three Loogootee and two Barr-Reeve basketball players were named to the All-Blue Chip Conference team as announced by conference officials.

Conner Wittmer, Matt Mathies and Cam Wagler were votes to the team from Loogootee. Addison Wagler and Micah Bullock were named from Barr-Reeve.

Joining the five players on the conference team were: Bryce Huebner and Tyler Haas, Northeast Dubois; Jordan Meurer and Chris Graman, North Knox; Conner Siever, Wood Memorial; Zach Templin, Vincennes Rivet; and Jon Sherfick, Shoals.

Loogootee won the conference with an 8-0 record. The Lions were followed by:

Barr-Reeve; 7-1; Northeast Dubois, 6-2; South Knox and Wood Memorial, 4-4; North Knox and Vincennes Rivet, 3-5; Washington Catholic, 1-7, and Shoals, 0-8.

Huebner was the leading scorer in conference games with 17 points per outing. Wagler scored the most points in a game with 31 and led with most field goals in a game (13). Wittmer led in rebounds for the season and average with 78 and 9.8 respectively.

Bullock led in free throw percentage in a game with 100 (8-8) and season 19-20. Templin had the most free throws in a game with 9-10.

Graman led the conference with six 3-pointers in a game and Huebner led in most 3-pointers during the conferencec season with 27.

Loogootee had the most 3-pointers during the season with 41, while the Vikings led the conference in defense, allowing an average of 34.1 points per game.

Named to the honorable mention team were: Colin Nelson, Loogootee; Brandon Wagler and Brandon Wagler, Barr-Reeve; Cameron Riecker, Northeast Dubois; Isiah Stafford, South Knox; and Colton Reed, Washington Catholic, who had the most rebounds (17).

  • Freedom win first game of summer

    Trevor Claridge went the distance to give the Washington Freedom its first win of the season in a 10-5 win over Sullivan. After Claridge surrendered one run in each of the first two innings, Washington broke out with a five-run rally in the top of the third. Sullivan crept closer at 5-3 with a run in the bottom of the inning, and Washington added two more runs to extend the lead to 7-3 and put the game out of reach.

    Washington’s first doubles team of Rachel Chattin and Audra Stallman were defeated by Evansville Mater Dei’s Emily McAtee and Jenna Smith, 6-4, 6-2, in the opening round of the doubles regional tournament at Bedford North Lawrence Saturday.
