Joana X. Borges and Robert F. Guratzsch were united in marriage at sunset Feb. 24 at Yacht Club of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with Dorival Ristoff officiating.

The maid of honor was Juliana Spohr. Bridesmaids were Julia Romeu, Amanda Giordano and Vanessa Pereira Do Nascimento.

Attendants of the bridegroom were Josh Hudson, best man, and Dustin Greenwell, Lamarr Taylor and Jaret Gaither serving as groomsmen.

A wedding reception was held at Yacht Club of Rio de Janeiro overlooking Botafogo Bay and Sugar Loaf Mountain.

The bride is the daughter of Luiz and Vera Borges of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She received a B.S. in International Relations from Universidade Estacio de SA and an M.S. in International Analysis from Universidade Federal de Rio de Janeiro. She currently works as a yoga instructor.

The bridegroom is the son of Frank and Elke Guratzsch of Washington. He received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and has both an M.S. and Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from Vanderbilt University. He currently works for Schlumberger in Macae, Brazil, as an oil field services engineer.

Out-of-town guests included family and friends from Germany and the United States.
