Jones, Smith wed

Shaya Laurane Jones and Jared Marc Smith were united in marriage June 23 at Antioch Christian Church. The bride is the daughter of Karen Jones of Montgomery and the late Stan Jones. Her grandparents are Alma Steen and the late Aubrey Steen, Elbert and Connie White and the late Bert Jones.

The bridegroom’s parents are Marc and Marilyn Smith of Washington. His grandparents are Maggie Swartzentruber and the late Peter Swartzentruber, Evelyn Krutsinger, the late Arnold Krutsinger and the late Gordon Smith.

Memorial candles were burning throughout the ceremony in honor of the bride’s father, grandparents of the couple and a friend of the couple, Brian Alderson.

Bro. Keith Meece officiated at the double ring ceremony. Greetings from the Jones and Smith families, scripture and prayer were given by Chad and Shannon Crane, cousin of the bride. Musicians were Laura Blue, Bro. Matt Merold, Luke Bean and Denny Porter.

The bride was escorted by her brother, Travor Jones. The wedding party included matron of honor, Larissa Porter, sister of the bride, and maid of honor, Kristen Smith, sister of the bridegroom. Bridesmaids were Kayla Neidigh, Jennifer Wirtz, Alison Gish, Tasha Raymond, Abby Baker, Kayla Bledsoe, Amy Lackey, Sherry Veeck and Natalie Christenberry. The best men were Clayton Ramsey and Jenn Alderson (in honor of Brian Alderson). Groomsmen were Craig Neidigh, Waylon Bruce, Chris Killion, Matthew Inman, Chris Blue, Adam Wittmer, Arlen Swartzentruber, Mark Wade and Denny Porter, brother-in-law of the bride.

The flower girl was Celina Pugh, cousin of the bride, and Colin Brown, cousin of the bridegroom, was ring bearer. Zosia Buse, cousin of the bride, carried a crystal cross and Ayiana Watts, cousin of the bride, carried the family Bible.

Ushers were Kevin Eaton, Anthony Hart, Joe Robinson and Gabe Swartzentruber. Ceremony greeters were Lara Shafer and Mandy Ash. The bride’s North Daviess Elementary School students distributed programs, received gifts and cascaded the bride and bridegroom with bubbles after the ceremony.

Larynda Keith and McKenzie Roark, also students of the bride, served as interpreters of music. Personal attendants of the bride were Brittany Bean and Tara Brower. Guestbook attendants were Lane Bond, cousin of the bridegroom, Stephanie Graber and Audrey Stoll and Briana Watts, cousin of the bride. Guestbook photographers were Tara Brower, Mandi Knepp and Leah Robinson.

The dinner and dance reception was held at the Martin County Community Building with Tony and Sharon Bond and Keith and Annalee Buse, uncles and aunts of the couple, serving as greeters. The cake and punch table attendants were Kenneth and Shirley Steen, Bill and Cindy Swartzentruber and Darrell and Carolyn Jones, uncles and aunts of the couple. The beverage table attendants were Marsha Bauer, Mark and Penny Jones, Ron and Pauline Knepp, Terry and Tonya Shafer, Richard Swartzentruber and Mike and Sally Smith, uncles and aunts of the couple. Table ushers for the reception were Dave and Norene Swartzentruber, uncle and aunt of the bridegroom.

The bride is a 2002 graduate of Barr-Reeve High School. She is a 2005 graduate of the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville with a degree in elementary education. She is employed at the North Daviess Elementary School as a sixth grade teacher. She is also the assistant high school volleyball coach.

The bridegroom graduated from North Daviess High School in 2000. He has received a degree from Vincennes University and is co-owner of R & S Excavating. He is also employed with Triple S Farms.

Guests attending were from Washington, Montgomery, Cannelburg, Loogootee, Plainville, Elnora, Odon, Wheatland, Bicknell, Vincennes, Bedford, Poseyville, Jasper, Evansville, Indianapolis, Ohio and Virginia.

The couple traveled to St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands for their honeymoon and they now reside at 9522N 300W, Washington.
