LOOGOOTEE — Vivian R. Chipley Spears, 58, died at 9:08 a.m. Friday at Memorial Hospital in Jasper. Born May 31, 1954, in Washington, she was the daughter of Joseph and Betty (Cline) Padgett. She had attended St. John Catholic High School and was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Loogootee. She was a homemaker and an avid bowler and enjoyed going to the casino, camping and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her fiance’, Joseph Spears of Loogootee; two daughters, Jessica Chipley of Loogootee, and Joni Smith of Bowling Green, Ky.; one brother, Russell Padgett of Tennessee; two sisters, Barbara Young of Spencer, and Maria Padgett of Peru; and nine grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, “Little” Joe Padgett. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Brocksmith-Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee.
