Arthur Schuetz

Arthur Herman “Artie” Schuetz, 995E 200N, 66, died at 5:45 p.m. Thursday at his residence with his family by his side following a five-year battle with cancer.

Born June 27, 1941, in Daviess County, he was the son of Albert B. and Aline P. (Bolte) Schuetz.

A 1960 graduate of Washington Catholic High School, he was a self-employed electrician and an Army veteran. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, VFW, Eagles and Moose.

He was a good dad and stepdad. He was a wonderful and loving grandpa. He was a cherished husband and life companion.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Sowder; one daughter, Lisa M. Schuetz of Eau Claire, Wis.; one son and daughter-in-law, Anthony Charles and Diana Schuetz, Minneapolis, Minn.; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Schuetz, Emma Schuetz and Lily Schuetz; seven stepchildren and their spouses, Marlene Ferrel and Kristi Ann Hazelwood, both of Kent, Wash., Larry Lee and Kathy Sowder of Charlotte, Md., Steven Troy and Ginia Sowder and Brandon Jay Sowder, all of Dover, Del., and Gary Wayne Sowder of Roseburg, Ore., Michelle Renee and Joe Ruggiero of Waxhall, N.C.; one great-granddaughter; three sisters, Emma Jo Tracy of Evansville, Mailee Rush of Walnut Creek, Calif., and Lynda Wellemeyer of Louisville; and one brother, Andrew A. Schuetz of Olney, Ill.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Simon’s Catholic Church, with Rev. Gordon Mann as celebrant. Burial will be in Sugarland Memory Gardens.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Gill Chapel, with a wake service at 4 p.m.

Preferred memorials are to Helping Hands Hospice.
