Frank Girkin

TUCSON, Ariz. — Frank Albert Girkin, 65, USAF (Air Police) Master Sergeant (retired), passed away at 10:45 p.m. Feb. 17 at Odyssey Hospice Care in Tucson.

He was born in Vincennes on Sept. 11, 1942, to Ralph and Hazel Girkin (both deceased) and he graduated from Washington High School in 1960.

Survivors include his wife Karen and her mother, Thelma; children, Rebecca Hart of Ellsworth, S.D., Andrew (Linda) of Phoenix, Ariz., and Vickie Jo (Ken) McKenzie of Baytown, Texas; grandchildren, Jackie, A.J., Jodie, Chris, Josh, Brooke and Jay; stepdaughter, Allison (Mike) Yohler and their children Mason and Peyton; great-granddaugher, Chellbie; brother, Bruce Sr. (Wanda) of Washington and his sons Navy CW03 Bruce Jr. (Lisa) of Silverdale, Wash., and Kenneth (Juliana) of Camp Arifjan, Kuwait; his aunt Nancy (Jack) Mincey and cousins Mark and Lark of Longview, Texas.

Mr. Girkin was retired from Pima County, Ariz., where he was a bailiff and court administrator for 14 years, and a member of the Masons, Scottish Rite, Sabbar and the Elks. He loved to fish, hunt, bowl and go dancing.

In memory of Frank, give a helping hand to a stranger in need, if you do or don’t support the war, shake the hand of a vet and thank him or her for defending his or her country (and yours) and maybe offer them a bottle of water and sandwich as they go through the airport on their way home or to their next duty station. That is what he always did in life...save a dance for me brother.
