Gale E. Butcher, 69, of Washington, died at 7:05 p.m. Sunday at her residence.
Born July 17, 1939, in Wayne County, Mich., she was the daughter of George “Jake” and Dorothy (Gohl) Williams.
She was a 1957 graduate of Montgomery High School and a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church and the Legion of Mary.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Karen and Bryan Bullock of Cannelburg, and Susan Butcher of Washington; three sons and a daughter-in-law, John and Judy Butcher of Loogootee, Mark W. Butcher and Steven Randall Butcher, both of Montgomery; 12 grandchildren, Sabrina (Jordan) Stoll, Krystal (Nick) Baker, Heather Butcher, Jeremy Butcher, Justine Butcher, Dustin Butcher, Josh Butcher, Danielle Bullock, Devan Bullock, Randee Butcher, Jordan Butcher and Marcus Butcher; three great-grandchildren, Amya Stoll, Wyatt Butcher and Jayden Butcher; two brothers, George (Mary) Williams of Morgantown and Kenny Williams of California; two sisters, Judy Rideout and Mary (Jerry) Greenwell, all of Evansville; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by Donald E. Butcher on Aug. 3, 2004. One son, Matthew E. Butcher, died May 13, 1999. Her parents; two sisters, Margaret Lents and Dorothy Taylor; one brother, Thomas A. Williams; and a nephew, Douglas Williams, are also deceased.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, with Rev. Gordon Mann as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery in Montgomery.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ed Lee Mortuary, with a wake service at 4 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to the American Cancer Society or any Relay for Life event.
