PLAINVILLE — Porter W. Ainscough, 90, died at 4:15 a.m. Wednesday at his residence.
Born Oct. 10, 1918, in Daviess County, he was the son of Thomas and Lillie (Ritter) Ainscough.
A graduate of Epsom High School, he ran a feedmill in Seymour, retired from Cummins Diesel in Columbus and was part owner of Odon Vault. He was a member of Plainville United Methodist Church, Plainville Masonic Lodge No. 678 F & A.M., Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis.
He is survived by his wife, Doris (Franklin) Ainscough, whom he married Sept. 17, 1988; son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Karen Ainscough of Columbus; stepdaughters and their spouses, Carlotta and Max Wayman of Taylorsville, Ill., Connie Alvey of Bedford, Carolyn and Wayne Vaughn of Plainville, Patricia and John Chapman of Washington, and Diane and David Cleghorn of Vincennes; grandchildren, Stacy and her husband Tim Norris, Kevin, Megan and Ryan Ainscough; great-grandchildren, J.T. Norris and Asher Ainscough; and special friend, Mary Ellen (Lene) Bledsoe of Franklin.
His first wife, Beth (Edwards) Ainscough, whom he married May 8, 1941, died May 24, 1986. Brothers Austin, Harry and Ermel Ainscough, and sisters Edith Cutshall, Georgia Killion, Minnie Barley, Virl Fry, Lavonnah Woodruff, Rita Becker and Juanita Stafford, are also deceased.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Poindexter-Hall and McClure Funeral Home, Odon Chapel, with Revs. Ford Bond and Mark Sanders officiating. Burial will be in Plainville Cemetery.
Visitation is from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a Masonic memorial service at 6 p.m., and until service time Monday at the funeral home.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to Plainville United Methodist Church in lieu of flowers.
