LOOGOOTEE — Robert Lee Emmons, 72, died at 8:15 a.m. CST Friday at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville. Born Sept. 15, 1940, in Elnora, he was the son of Floyd and Emma (Gardner) Emmons. He attended Elnora High School and was a retired truck driver for Griffin Industries. He enjoyed taking cruises, watching MMA fighting and most of all he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Denise (Moffett) Emmons, whom he married May 26, 1979; three sons, Jesse and wife Lisa Emmons of Elnora, Lonnie and wife Michelle Emmons of Lyons, and Bobby and wife Chelsea Emmons of Evansville; two daughters, Aimee and husband Keith Zobel of Washington, and Courtney Emmons and fiance’ Rusty Sutton of Montgomery; two brothers, Don Emmons of Indianapolis, and Jerry Emmons of Lakeland, Fla.; mother-in-law, Hilda (Benecke) Moffett of Loogootee; and 10 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Joe Emmons, and one grandson. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Brocksmith-Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee.
