LOOGOOTEE — Veronica J. “Bonnie” Sheetz, 80, died at 6:05 p.m. Saturday at Martin County Health Care and Rehab Center in Loogootee. Born June 13, 1932, in Martin County, she was the daughter of Homer and Ethel (Crane) Anthus. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Loogootee and was a graduate of St. John High School. Bonnie was retired from the cafeteria at Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. In her free time she enjoyed playing bingo, traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by three sons, James Sheetz of Hudsonville, Mark and wife Mary Sheetz and Steve Sheetz, all of Loogootee; two sisters, Ruth Smith of Loogootee, and Mary Skupic of Sacramento, Calif.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Her husband, Bobbie L. Sheetz, whom she married October 1950, died June 3, 1977. She is also preceded in death by her parent; her adoptive parents, Clarence and Ethel Ash; one son, William “Bill” Sheetz; two sisters, Violet Myers and Mary Francis Anthus; two brothers, Jerome and Lester Anthus; and one half brother, Kenney E. Ash. A memorial service wil be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Brocksmith-Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee. Visitation is after 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
