WASHINGTON — Byrl Eugene Potts, 84, of Washington, died at 3:05 a.m. Sunday at Daviess Community Hospital. Born Aug. 28, 1927, in Daviess County, he was the son of Thomas R. and Annabell (Gadberry) Potts. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he had worked at B and O Railroad and also at McCord Corp. for 20 years. He was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He is survived by a son, Kent Potts of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter, Stefany McDaniel of Winslow; grandchildren, Sarah, Brandy (whom Byrl and Thelma raised as their own daughter), D.J., Dakota, Jacob, Mylee and Makayla; and great-grandchildren, Gregory, Julieanna, Justin, Jayden, Calista, Ciya, Shaylee and Sydney. His wife, Thelma (Hicks) Potts, whom he married Nov. 12, 1950, died March 1, 2006. He is also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Vincennes, with Bishop Ryan J. Lough officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Poindexter-Hall and McClure Funeral Home, Washington Chapel, and after 9 a.m. Friday at the church.
