Pauline E. McCullough


Pauline E. McCullough, 88, of Washington, died at 10:40 p.m. Sunday at Prairie Village Nursing Home.

Born March 21, 1921, in Daviess County, she was the daughter of Arthur and Ethel (Morgan) Harner.

A 1939 graduate of Washington High School, she was a member of First Baptist Church. She was a matron at the Daviess County jail from 1955 to 1963 and later a clerk at the Daviess County Courthouse.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Lonnie and Susan McCullough of Washington; two grandchildren, Laurie Speer and Lisa and husband Rodger Claridge, all of Washington; five great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Thelma and Gilbert Mitchner of Fowlerton; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Phyllis Harner of Swazee; sister-in-law, Susie McCullough of Washington; and nieces and nephews.

Her husband, James McCullough, whom she married Jan. 10, 1942, died Aug. 25, 1986. One son, Edwin McCullough, is also deceased.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Gill Chapel, with Rev. Brian Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery.

Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to Helping Hands Hospice.
