Dr. Bernard Grannan


Dr. Bernard N. Grannan, 85, Washington, died Feb. 20 at Deaconess Hospice Care Center in Evansville.

Born Feb. 10, 1925, in South Bend, he was the son of Bernard and Corrine (Norris) Grannan.

A 1943 graduate of Washington Catholic High School, he attended St. Joseph University in Rensselaer and graduated from St. Louis School of Dentistry. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Washington V.F.W., and was a past member of the Washington Elks Lodge. He loved going to the horse races and helping his friend farm.

He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline “Jackie” (Fridrich) Grannan, whom he married June 12, 1954; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Beth and Michael Lancaster of Sterling, Ill.; four sons and daughters-in-law, Bernard F. “Rick” and Nancy Grannan and John “Chris” Grannan, all of Washington, Paul T. Grannan of Evansville, and Gerald “Jerry” Grannan and Christy of Jackson, Mich.; five grandchildren, Christopher McCauley, Katy Lancaster, Allie Lancaster, John Grannan and Jenna Grannan.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.
